OurValues NorthCross Church Values . . .PEOPLEWe believe in the value and dignity of human life. Regardless of gender, ethnicity, or culture, all people have been created by God; created in his image and are to be loved and respected.GOSPELWe believe the Gospel is the power of God to heal lives. It is only through Christ, through faith in his death and resurrection that we find true hope and forgiveness. The gospel is about God’s grace – the unmerited love of God. A relationship with God has nothing to do with our achievements and success in this life.DISCIPLESHIPWe believe Discipleship should always equip people to serve and empower people to lead. Discipleship is about meaningful personal relationships, accountability, and learning together what it means to be a community that follows after Jesus.MERCYWe believe authentic Mercy is a lifestyle more than it a program of the church. Mercy is a disposition, a posture, a way of life. It’s about seeing the gospel as oppose to only hearing about it. We are committed to forming strategic alliances with other churches and civil agencies around us that bring reformation to the people and communities of Lake Norman.WORSHIPWe believe Worship to be an act of the community of faith. Here the community is deeply invested in giving expression to the praise of God that arises from a commitment to rest in and worship around the Cross of Jesus Christ.MULTIPLICATIONWe believe multiplication is about fostering kindred communities through the communities of Lake Norman. NorthCross is committed to expanding the Kingdom of God through a movement of church planting.
OurVisionNorthCross ChurchThe vision of NorthCross Church finds its roots in the description of the Church at Antioch found in Act 11:19-30; 13:1-3. The Church at Antioch is a fascinating study in what it means and looks like to be an authentic faith community. The Christians at Antioch were a group of people who had experienced the grace of Christ in ways that led them to love each other and those outside the church in patterns that consistently embodied the Cross of Jesus. With great intentionality they lived out the pattern of the Cross within a diversity of human relationships – that’s what made them an authentic and winsome Christian community. When one studies the Church at Antioch, we find six distinct values that characterized how these people lived and loved in the world. NorthCross Church is committed to embracing these same six core values and living them out in the community of Lake Norman with the same relational thrust seen in Antioch!
WhatWeBelieveA Synopsis of the Beliefs of NorthCross Church - a Church of the Presbyterian Church in America (
PCA)1. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the authoritative and infallible rule of faith and practice.2. There is one God, eternal and self-existing in three persons (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) who are to be equally loved, honored, and adored.3. All mankind participated in Adam's fall from his original sinless state and is thus lost in sin and totally helpless.4. The Sovereign God, for no other reason than His own unfathomable love and mercy, has chosen lost sinners from every nation to be redeemed by the quickening power of the Holy Spirit and through the atoning death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ.5. Those sinners whom the Spirit quickens, come to believe in Christ as Savior by the Word of God, are born again, become sons of God, and will persevere to the end.6. Justification is by faith and through it the undeserving sinner is clothed with the righteousness of Christ.7. The goal of God's salvation in the life of the Christian is holiness, good works, and service for the glory of God.8. At death the Christian's soul passes immediately into the presence of God and the unbeliever's soul is eternally separated from God unto condemnation.9. Baptism is a sign of God's covenant and is properly administered to children of believers in their infancy as well as to those who come as adults to trust in Christ.10. Jesus Christ will return to earth, visibly and bodily, at a time when He is not expected, to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.11. The Gospel of God's salvation in Jesus Christ must be presented to all the world as a witness before Jesus Christ returns.

AdventSeriesThe Women of Christmas In this mini-series we have three sermons focused on the women of the Christmas Story: Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna. Each sermon in this series is focused on how God used each of these women to reveal his Son and His Salvation to the World. In the eyes of the dominant culture, none of these women were considered important and yet in the eyes of God they were highly esteemed and the grace of God came to them and through them and each in her own way was a significant part of the story of Incarnation.

What do you do at NorthCross?A little bit of everything! I handle the administrative and financial responsibilities, women’s ministry and children’s ministry. This is the third church at which I’ve worked and I’ve learned that no day is the same and that there is no true job description. But I love it! What do I do in my free time?Be outside as much as I can – walking our dog, swimming, hiking, backpacking, camping, gardening. And traveling to visit our children.Family? My husband, Dean, and I have four children. All are grown and live in other cities; three are married. Life is very different for us than it was a few years ago and we miss the kids, but we are really enjoying the time we have together.Where are you from and where did you go to school?I grew up in Virginia and Florida. Dean and I met at FSU (go ‘Noles!). We have lived in Michigan, Florida and now North Carolina (which is our favorite!).What’s on Your IPod?A little bit of everything except rap. What are you reading? I am reading Half-broke Horses by Jeanette Walls and just finished re-reading The Great Divorce by C.S. I enjoy working with our staff and trying to keep focused on our mission to humbly serve the community of NorthCross with the Gospel. What do I do in my free time? Most days I feel like I drive a taxi . . . I think it comes with the territory of having three children with ever expanding social agendas. When I can find the time I do enjoy a plethora of avocations that mostly get me out of doors . . . whitewater kayaking, climbing, backpacking, and road biking. But mostly I enjoy sunsets on Lake Norman with my wife Tina. Family?Tina and I met in church at the tender age of 4 or 5 and we’ve been friends since then . . . we’ve been married for 18 years and we are hoping for about42 more. We have three children: Chipper, Samuel, and Laura Elizabeth. We enjoy our time together as a family and love to vacation together at the Outer Banks.Where are you from and where did you go to school?I was born and grew up in the Tarheel State. I lived mostly in Winston-Salem and then when I was about twelve we moved to a small town called Stoneville. After spending five semesters at Western Carolina University and one semester at UNC-Greensboro I transferred and graduated from Holmes Bible College. I did my Graduate work at Erskine Seminary and graduated with a M-DIV in 1997.What’s on Your IPod? Lots of Van Morrison, Jazz vocalist like Amos Lee and Diana Krall - a lot of Damien Rice and Ray LaMontagne for those overcast days when something mellow is required. What are you reading? I just finished a novel by Charles Martin called Chasing Fireflies. It’s a book about the experience of abandonment and how different people deal with it in different ways. Just started The Devil in Pew Number Seven . . . ask me in a week and I’ll let you know what it’s about. If I could be a super hero . . .?It would have to be Aqua Man . . . Outreach&Missions“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” - Psalm 115:1 (ESV)The Outreach&Missions ministries of NorthCross Church aim to glorify Jesus Christ by gathering more and more worshipers. These ministries are all built on the reality that outreach is not the ultimate mission or primary end of our church, but rather worship of Jesus Christ. In accord with Jesus' command to the disciples, "...you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth..." (Acts 1:8), we labor and pray in outreach near and far—for His glory. We are intentionally involved in several strategic areas locally and throughout the world…LocallyRUF at Davidson CollegeChurch PlantingYoung LifeAda Jenkins CenterGloballyMission To The WorldShort-term mission trip opportunities
NorthCrossHistoryChip Sneed and his family moved to Huntersville in August 2002 with the vision to plant a Presbyterian (
PCA) church in the Lake Norman area. Christ Covenant Church (PCA) of Matthews, NC and the Central Carolina Presbytery (PCA) offered invaluable oversight and support during the first few years.Chip spent many hours in local coffee shops meeting people and bringing together those interested in planting a new church. The vision for NorthCross is based on Acts 11 – God-centered, people-oriented and outward-facing to serve to Lake Norman area.A small group started meeting in the Sneed’s living room in January 2003 for Bible study and prayer. The first Sunday morning worship service was held May 18, 2003 in rented space in a restored building in downtown Cornelius. We outgrew that space, and in September 2005 moved to our current location in Cornelius – a warehouse that we have converted to offices, nurseries/classrooms and worship space. In 2006 we began the process to become a “particular” church – self-supporting, with a committed membership and elected officers. With the blessing of the Central Carolina Presbytery, we held our particularization service on January 14, 2007 and celebrated what God has done in our midst, for gathering us together as NorthCross. The vision for NorthCross continues to be fleshed out as the gospel is preached and experienced, as authentic relationships develop and grow and the community is touched by the love of our Savior.
NorthCrossChildrenVacation Bible SchoolJune 26-29, 2012click here for more detailsOverviewWe aim to provide a church environment where children will be introduced to a personal relationship with Jesus through a variety of ways, but especially through:- Strong Families- Fellowship with other children- Inclusion in the worship and fellowship of the church- Sound teaching of Biblical truthsVisionOur vision for NorthCross is to first train parents to build strong families by strengthening their marriages and helping them to live the gospel within the home. In addition, we would like for all children to fully experience the life of the church as soon as possible. This means that children are welcomed in most of our fellowship events and in the worship service. By including the children in the life of the church, it is our hope that we will provide a unique, relational and gospel-centered experience for our families. For more information about children in worship, please click here.AvailabilityDuring the worship service we provide nursery for babies and small children up to the age of three. We also provide the option for children to attend children’s church during the sermon. Children’s church is for children from the age of three until they begin kindergarten. Education Classes Class for children are provided for ages 2 through high school. The classes are divided as follows: pre-school, about 2 1/2 years old - 4 years old; early elementary, kindergarten – 3rd grade; intermediate, 4th-6th grade; jr/sr high girls;jr/sr high boys.Other activities for children include service to others in the church and the community, a fall festival, Christmas pageant, Easter egg hunt and Vacation Bible School in the summer. Safety and SecurityWe have experienced and capable leaders, and provide a healthy and safe environment for our children. We ask that all parents sign their children in and out of the nursery and provide the church with information regarding any special needs or allergies. We are confident that all children are being well cared-for during any church function.
LifeGroups are a vital part of the community of NorthCross. 70% 0f our members and regular attenders participate actively in a group! Each week, these small groups of all ages meet for a time of fellowship, prayer and study. Because these groups are smaller and more intimate than our Sunday morning worship service, they provide an atmosphere for developing deeper relationships with others in the church. In addition to weekly meetings, groups also plan occasional weekend outings and community service projects. If you are new to NorthCross, joining a LifeGroup is one of the most important steps you can take to get involved. The dynamics of each group are different, so feel free to visit several to find the one that is the right fit for you.
